What do you think of the new layout?

It definitely looks more professional, I like it.

Maybe not as easy to use, but that ain't everything.. You would expect most people on this site to be pretty computer literate.

I agree and disagree with this statement, it definalty looks the part. I do like the style of the site. But the main focus of ANY website should be the ease of use! if people dont understand it or get frustrated because things arnt easy enough to do what they want then they will get bored and not return (it is the way of most internet users) granted there are people that this will not apply to however on the most part this is the case.

There is most definatly no login box on the main page (viewing through IE) just to give you a heads up. I had to navigate to the forums to find one. there is a register link at the top rite (maybe a login option near that would work.

There are alot of nice features to the site, the arena works better, and there is alot more content on the site which is good. If you want to expand your active users then making it as easy to use it a must. i have recieved a fair amount of feedback on the functionality of the site and people think its confusing. But as a fairly long time user that has seen many of the changes happen i dont find it that tricky....but iv used the site before.

Baldwonder has hit the nail on the head if a site isnt userfriendly it will put people off using it as they will find it more difficult to do what they want,

i think the old login menu should be re introduced - the one withthe link to the new forum posts ect,

there is too much white space, it kinda looks unfinished.

the layout s all there it just needs little changes to make it perfect

I agree, there is still more to be done, as the white space does make it look un-finished. (I am only one man after all)

As for the lack of a "login" area on IE, that is actually a new issue, which has only just happened with some edits to the code to fix a few issues with the display of the site in IE. Thanks for bringing it to my attention though.

GUI and accessibility is a subject I studied for a year or so, but in all honesty, ask any webcoder, and they will blame cross browser requirements for poor accessibility. We have been working on getting the site looking more functional on all browsers, and soon as we iron out all these creases, we can go full steam into improving the whole site as a whole.

The log-in box is not just an IE issue. I don't get it on Firefox when i've logged out of the site either.

i mean even just moving the right hand menu up like you have has made a massive improvement
