When gaming turns bad. . .

Today while watching the channel 4 news, I heard of a story of a man, being killed by a fellow gamer, who had met over an internet forum. No news website has been updated with the full story yet, but BBC have this to say:

Police investigating the murder of a 20-year-old student in Nottingham are looking for bloodstained clothing and the weapon used to stab him.

The body of Matthew Pyke, from Stowmarket, Suffolk, was found in his flat above the Orange Tree pub on North Sherwood Street on Friday.
Detectives said it was possible Mr Pyke was not killed in a random attack but knew the person who stabbed him.

A detailed and extensive forensic examination of the scene is continuing.

Police officers are conducting door-to-door inquiries.

Det Ch Insp Tony Heydon, who is leading the investigation, said: "Matthew was a young man with his whole life ahead of him, and we are doing everything we can to catch the person responsible for his murder.

"We still haven't recovered the weapon used to murder Matthew and want anyone who has seen or found a bladed weapon, possibly bloodstained, to contact detectives immediately."

The 20-year-old was about to start a degree at Nottingham Trent University

Channel 4 news, claimed a 23 year old from Germany was arrested over his murder. The 2 men had met via an internet forum, the victim had run for an online game. The game in question is a very popular game, with "cartoon" graphics, and members of the community found it hard to believe this murder was related.

Matthew Pyke, 20, who ran a web-based gaming forum, was found dead in his Nottingham flat on Friday evening.

Police said on Wednesday that they believe he may have known his attacker and are examining who he knew from playing internet-based games.

Mr Pyke ran a website for players of fantasy game Advance Wars, in which he was known as Shade.

His body was found at the flat he shared with his girlfriend Joanna Witton, above the Orange Tree pub in Nottingham city centre.

That's just simply insane and makes you blood run cold to think anyone would even bother to come all the way from Germany to kill a guy
Advance Wars is a great game though I must say, but this will probably end in loads of politicians and such complaining about it being violent and such... Yes, childlike animation's violent now folks!

I bet tons of people moan about this and that violent games should be banned. And id say most of them drink and to them I say why is drink not banned then. Alot more drink releated deaths than games.
